Altar Servers assist the priest and deacon during the celebration of the Mass, helping the liturgy to flow with reverence and care. By serving at the altar, they learn responsibility, teamwork, and the beauty of the Church’s worship, while growing in their own faith and understanding of the Mass.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God to the assembly during the liturgy, giving voice to the Scriptures so that God’s Word may be heard, received, and reflected upon. Through careful preparation and prayerful proclamation, lectors serve the Church by helping the faithful encounter Christ present in the sacred readings.
Eucharistic Ministers assist in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass and to the sick and homebound. Through this ministry, parishioners serve Christ present in the Eucharist and extend the Church’s care to those who are unable to be physically present with the community.
Ushers help create a welcoming and orderly environment for worship by greeting parishioners, assisting with seating, and offering support as needed during Mass. Their quiet attentiveness and readiness to help ensure that all who gather can participate fully and comfortably in the liturgy. They warmly greet parishioners as they enter the church, distribute song sheets and weekly bulletins at the entrances of the church, assist parishioners with seating as needed, and collect the weekly offertory from the congregation at a designated time during the Mass.
The Mass Coordinator is a person with training and a working knowledge of the liturgical ministries and can coordinate the different ministers to ensure a prayerful celebration of Mass.
This document contains a checklist of things to be done by the Mass Coordinator before Mass, during Mass, and after Mass. Some tasks are the responsibility of the Mass Coordinator, while other tasks will be completed by the Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, and other ministers. The Mass Coordinator, while not responsible for doing each task themselves, is responsible to make sure these tasks are completed.
When there is a parish funeral, these ministers welcome the bereaved into the church, provide a supportive presence, and assist the presiding priest with the funeral Mass. Ministers are contacted when a funeral is scheduled and volunteer as time allows them.
Funeral Acolytes assist at funeral liturgies, offering prayerful support to grieving families during moments of loss. Through their reverent service and compassionate presence, they help ensure that funeral liturgies are celebrated with dignity, care, and respect for both the deceased and their loved ones.
The Holy Wash Ministry cares for the sacred vessels used at Mass, ensuring they are reverently purified and properly prepared for future liturgies. This behind-the-scenes ministry plays an important role in honoring the Eucharist and supporting the prayerful celebration of the Mass. The ministers provide care for the church linens and the sanctuary of the church. Volunteers for Holy Wash wash and iron the purificators once a week for one month per year; the ironing takes an hour or less per week.
The Environment Ministry helps prepare and maintain the worship space according to the liturgical seasons of the Church year. Through thoughtful decoration and attention to beauty and symbolism, this ministry enhances the prayerful atmosphere of the church and helps the assembly enter more deeply into the mysteries we celebrate.
The Music Ministry supports the prayer of the community through song, leading the assembly in worship and praise. By offering their musical gifts, members of this ministry help lift hearts to God and enrich the liturgy, reflecting the Church’s long tradition of music as an essential expression of faith.
