It is our privilege to announce that Mr. Adam Biggs has been selected as the new principal of St. Thomas the Apostle School. We are extremely pleased that from a large and talented pool of candidates, our search committee has identified a uniquely qualified Catholic school educator and administrator to join the St. Thomas the Apostle family.
Mr. Biggs will begin his duties as principal on July 1, 2021. We are planning a socially distanced reception to formally welcome him in the coming months, and will issue invitations once the time, date, and location are confirmed. In the meantime, please join us in offering him a warm welcome.
Having spent his entire career in the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Albany, Mr. Biggs taught English Language Arts at Notre Dame – Bishop Gibbons School and has most recently been appointed to the position of Diocesan Chairperson for English Language Arts. Mr. Biggs also has experience teaching on the postsecondary level, serving as an Adjunct Professor at Schenectady Community College. His contributions have extended beyond the classroom, serving as both the National Honor Society Moderator and Director of drama productions at ND-BG.
Mr. Biggs earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Siena College, his Master’s Degree in teaching from Clarkson University, and is currently completing his second Master’s Degree at the College of St. Rose in Educational Leadership and Administration.
An advocate not only for his students, Mr. Biggs is also a member of the Cohoes Common Council and was featured in
The Evangelist back in October 2019.
We look forward to Mr. Biggs’ leadership and we are excited about the future for all of the students, families, faculty and staff at St. Thomas the Apostle School.
We wish to thank Mr. Ernie Casile who filled in as interim principal over the past several months. Let us hold him in our prayers as he continues to facilitate a smooth transition.
May the remaining months of this school year be fruitful, fulfilling and blessed for all of you.
Sincerely,
Fr. Rick Lesser
